In the second Test in Nagpur, India defeated Sri Lanka, where they had their heaviest defeat in Test history as India won by an innings and 239 runs. The Sri Lankan’s were bowled out for 166 on the four day of the test match. Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the fastest bowler to take 300 Test wickets. He claimed this by taking 4 wickets for 63 runs.
In the first Innings Sri Lanka took 205 for 10 wickets at a run rate of 2.58. For Sri Lanka caption Chandimal and Karunaratne scored half century. But the others could ot score a better runs. For India Ashwin took 4 wickets and both Ishant Sharma and Jadeja took 3 wickets. On the other hand Indian declared after scoring a massive runs of 610 for 6 wickets at a run rate of 3.46. Indian caption Kohli scored 213, M Vijay, Pujara and Sharma scored centuries. Where Sri Lankan bowlers Perera took 3 wickets where others could not perform well.
In the Second Innings Indian had a lead of 405 runs. But Sri Lanka couldn’t chase the massive lead and they lost their 10 wickets while scoring 166 runs. Caption Chandimal scored a half century, but they could not fight back, where the Indian bowlers were too strong. in the Second innings Ashwin took 4 wickets, Ishant Sharma, Jadeja and Yadav took 2 wickets each. Finally Indian won the match for an Innings and 239 runs.
