The Ashes series between England and Australia finally begins on Thursday (November 23) at Gabba. The England’s Squad under Joe Root’s captaincy have done some good performances in the warm up matches. As the history is against England, they wants to retain the famous urn following their 3-2 win in 2015.

England have just won 23 of the 98 Tests they have played in Australia, where the home side winning 50 victories in all. Two of the last three Ashes series down under have resulted in Australia’s domination over England. Also England have not won at the Gabba since 1986. Australia are unbeaten in Brisbane in 28 Tests.

England only need to draw the five-match series to retain the Ashes. They have not won there since 1986 in Gabba. Where as Australia have not lost a Test at Brisbane’s Gabba for 29 years. The opening warm-up match of England ended in a draw, a two-day game in Perth, then defeated Cricket Australia XI in Adelaide.

The Gabba is one of the best cricket wickets in Australia, which rewards both good bowling and batting. Over the past few days the weather around Brisbane has been wet. Showers and unseasonably cool temperatures are forecast during the match. This will probably suits England better.
