Ravichandran Ashwin was named the winner of Best player in Team Sports award category at the recently organised Indian Sports Honours awards organised by Virat Kohli Foundation.Skipper of Indian women’s team, Mithali Raj won the award for Best Player in the female category.
Ashwin made his way back into the team in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka.In race for the prestigious accolade he was competing with the likes of Kabaddi player Pardeep Narwal, Indian national football team captain Sunil Chetri and Indian hockey star Rupinder Pal Singh, as well as his teammates Cheteshwar Pujara and Hardik Pandya.
Mithali led the Indian team to the finals of 2017 ICC Women’s world cup and was named the Best Sportswoman in Team Sport category and also collected the award for Team of the Year on her side’s behalf.
