Chennai Super Kings Team officially announced its return right after the conclusion of IPL 10 th season. The team declared its come back to IPL through their twitter account.
“Next Summer we will be there” said the yellow army using the ‘Many Happy Returns of CSK’ hashtag. The Super Kings Team authority assured its followers to meet in the coming season, shaing the picture of Chennai Stadium.
Earlier, Mr.N.B.Shrinavasan, the former BCCI President and the owner of Chennai Team had declared the same. He added that Mahendra Singh Dhoni shall be the Team Captain. Following it, the BCCI too acknowlegded the return of both Chennai and Rajasthan teams. Chennai Super Kings had won the IPL season twice. It was in 2015, that Justice Lodha Committee imposed two years ban on Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals for IPL match fixing. The Committee also denied Mr.Gurunath Meyyappan, the co-owner of the Chennai Team from associating with BCCI for a lifetime. The Court had held Meyyappan, also the son-in-law to Mr.Shrinivasan guilty in the 2013 match fixing case. The latter was accused by the Court of favouring Meyyappan as the case reached the Supreme Court.Mr.Shrinivasan had lost the position of BCCI Presidentship following these outcomes.
The return of both Chennai Royal Kings and Rajasthan Royals at the end of their two year ban will subsequently lead the Gujarat and Pune teams out of IPL. Moreover, the new BCCI executive committee that came to power under the supervision of Court did not get time to involve in IPL affairs. The upcoming 11th season shall turn into a treasure chest of uncertainties, also given the interventions of Vinod Rai Committee.
