Barcelona will offer Lionel Messi a lifetime contract at the club, CEO Oscar Grau said on Saturday.

It was in July, 30-year old Argentine striker Lionel Messi agreed to a four year contract extension at the club even though it isn’t signed yet officially. But club is looking forward to offer him a lifetime contract  similar to they signed with the Spanish mid-fielder Andres Iniesta earlier this month, CEO Oscar Grau said on Saturday.

“Messi signed a four-year deal in June, but the club will offer him a lifetime contract,” Grau told club members.

Lionel Messi started his football career in FC Barcelona’s La Masia academy and  has been playing for FC Barcelona senior team since his debut in 2004. He is considered to be the most valuable player of Football and the club. Club consider him as a one-club man like Roma’s Fransisco Totti.

Amidst the Catalonia Independence issues, the club is in the verge of exiting from La Liga. But Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu confirmed on Saturday the club wishes to continue playing in La Liga even if Catalonia is granted independence from Spain.

Argentina international has netted 14 goals already this season, firing Barca to the top of both La Liga and Group D of the Champions League and also entered 100 goal club in European tournaments this week.
