India continues their winning streak as they won the 3rd of 5 ODIs on Sunday in Indore by 5 wickets. With this win India has won their last 9 matches, their longest winning streak, wrapping up this series from Australia with two matches still to play. Australia, meanwhile, have lost ten of their last 11 away from home.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Australia managed to put up a score of 293/6 from 50 overs.
The top order batsman didn’t fail to take runs. Finch added a ton to the score, 124 off 125 balls while Warner and Captain Smith backed up with 42 off 44 balls and 63 off 71 balls. But no one after them managed to scored enough of runs.
The opening pair, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane gave India a head-start as they gathered 139 runs partnership in the first wicket.
Rohit, who had managed scores of just 28 and 7 in the Chennai and Kolkata ODIs, smashed his 33rd fifty and fourth against Australia as India scored at a healthy rate. At the other end, Ajinkya Rahane looked in solid touch to dent Australia. Rohit scored 71 off 62 balls and Rahane took 70 off 76 balls.
Hardik Pandya holds the key for India in pursuit of 294 against Australia in the third ODI in Indore. Pandya scored a half century,78 off 72 which made the win easier.
Smith dropping Pandya on 41 before Pandey had scored can be considered to be a turning point in match. Tough chance in the artificial light, but should have completed it.
Team India will look to continue their domination and extend their winning streak by beating Australia in the fourth ODI at Bangalore.
