Kohli Lashes Out Dhoni’s Critics

Virat Kohli with MS Dhoni

Former Indian captain Dhoni is facing a lot of criticism ever since he failed to guide his team to victory in the Rajkot T20 International last Saturday. After winning the T20I match against New Zealand, the Indian captain Virat Kohli slammed at the critics for pointing out one man while ignoring failure of other players, including himself.

Kohli defended MS Dhoni saying that the former Indian captain remains fit regardless of his age and passes all his fitness tests and that he still remains to be one of the most important members of the team.

“First, I don’t understand why are people only pointing him out, I’m not able to understand this. If I fail as a batsman three times, no one is going to point fingers at me because I am not over 35,” Virat Kohli said in a press conference after India’s third T20I against New Zealand. Kohli believes that the main reason for Dhoni’s place in the Indian side is being questioned because of his age.

In Rajkot, Dhoni scored 49 off 37 at a strike-rate of 132.43 in the second T20 International that India lost to New Zealand. The former Indian captain struggled to take big shots against the spin balls from New Zealand ballers. Analysts said that he played too many dot balls. And with scores of 0 and 7 in his first and last three T20 matches played against New Zealand critics have gone as far as to suggest his removal from the format completely. Virat seemed to be very confident in defending his colleague and told that instead of thinking about Dhoni’s replacment, India should be using MS Dhoni’s talents better.
