Even after the repatriation to India on various charges of unpaid debts and money laundering, Vijay Mallya, the so called Indian business don succeeds on as India’s top member in the world motorsport body FIA.
The FIA is considered as the world’s leading body of the four wheel racing and FIM for two-wheel racing.
The Indian motorsport body FMSCI removed Mallya as its honorary chairman right after because of the increasing predicaments of the tycoon and is decided to remain with the current decision as far as its representatives at the FIA is concerned.
As Mallya’s passport has been cancelled, the deputy titular Vicky Chandhok travels to all the meetings including the important World Motor Sport Council conference of FIA.
“We propose representatives in a three year term to FIA. We can suggest new names to the authority only after the existing assemblage’s cycle gets over in 2018. If we try to eliminate Mallya or even Vicky, we could miss our place in the World Motor Sport Council, which is not at all good for the growing Indian motorsport,” FMSCI president Akbar Ebrahim said on Thursday. “Having both Vijay and Vicky in FIA benefits us in a way, as they both are much connected in the FIA,”, he added.
Mallya, who is living in the United Kingdom ever since March 2016, is personally having a very hard time, as his Formula One Team Force India endures to hit above its weight. Latter, the team had finished with an extraordinary record as fourth in 2016 and has relished a fruitful start to 2017 with 53 points from five races.
