RCB announced their new captain as they lost their regular captain Kohli and Ab de for the first few games.
Royal Challengers Bangalore named their star aussie all-rounder Shane Watson as the new captain for the initial stages of Indian Premier League 2017. Watson will lead the side until Virat will join the playing eleven after recovering his shoulder injury.
Watson, a two-time recipient of the player of the tournament award, has previously skippered the now-suspended Rajasthan Royals franchise. Earlier, RCB’s head coach Daniel Vettori hinted that Ab de Villers will take over the captaincy of the side in kohli’s absence. But later De Villers also trapped with a back injury which caused him to lose the initial phase of the IPL.
“Virat Kohli, the RCB Captain will be missing the first few matches of the VIVO Indian Premier League owing to an unfortunate shoulder injury. His presence on field is dependent on him passing the fitness tests and we hope for a strong recovery for him,” team chairman Amrit Thomas was quoted as saying by an official media release.
