Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated the Indian Hockey team for their title winning performance in the Hockey Asia Cup first and shuttler Kidambi Srikanth in winning Denmark Open while addressing the nation through ‘Mann ki Baat’.
“Our athletes made the country proud. In hockey, India won the Asia Cup hockey title through its dazzling performance. Our players performed magnificently; on the basis of their sterling efforts, India become the Asia Cup champion after 10 years,” the Prime Minister said.
“Badminton star Kidambi Srikanth filled every Indian’s heart with pride by clinching the Denmark Open title with his excellent performance. I congratulate our young friend, Kidambi Srikanth for this feat and enhancing the prestige of India,” the Prime Minister said. Read more ONTARIO HOCKEY LEAGUE.
Prime Minister Modi also praised the FIFA U-17 World Cup team and said though India could not win the title, the young players won everyone’s hearts. India’s strike against Colombia was certainly one for the history books and surely the one to believe, Indian football is going places.
“Young Indian players won hearts of fans during the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. Future of football is bright in India,” said PM.
Indian shuttlers, PV Sindhu,Saina Nehwal, HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth made Indian Badminton to reach its peak as ensuring that almost every weekend had a title up for grabs for the country.
Considering the Indian cricket on other hand, Virat Kohli and his men are becoming unstoppable as they recently defeated Australia in ODI and T20 tournaments conducted in India. They are currently in ODI series against New Zealand and is expecting to take the series by 2-1 if they succeed to win.
