Going by a proposal from IPL Governing Council, MS Dhoni can return to CSK as they and Rajasthan Royals(RR) are allowed to retain some players.
Following the end of two-year suspension from the Indian Premier League(IPL), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are preparing for the next season and are wasting no time in coming back to tournament with a bang. The two-time IPL champions along with inaugural champions Rajasthan Royals were suspended for a couple of years in 2015 on corruption charges which ended on July 13 this year.
The owners, meanwhile, are keen in bringing back their former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni for IPL 2018. A proposal put forward by IPL Governing Council(GC) will make it easy for CSK to retain their former captain.
“We are going to propose minimum three retentions – one Indian and two foreigners. The players who played for Pune and Gujarat in last two years can be retained by Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. We will place it in front of owners during a workshop next month,” an IPL GC official was quoted after the meeting.
Along with the above statement he also added that some franchises are demanding to increase the total salary amount from 60 crores to 80 crores.
Even though this proposal will be strongly opposed by Pune and Gujarat, there is a chance for the return of players to the comeback teams if the proposal get sanctioned in the franchise workshop next month.
