“Only jealous people want the superstar MS Dhoni out”, argues Ravi Shastri
Mahendra Singh Dhoni has uncompetebly been one of India’s impressive cricketer players since the past decade and a half. From being a prodigious personality and becoming himself into a super figure, Dhoni’s voyage has been proud for any Indian. However, there are ups and downs in the career of every cricket player. Dhonie is of no exception, since sometime, he has been struggling with his form in play and was not able to perform at his best, which has drawn criticism for the former Indian captain.
Ravi Shastri has come forward to defend MS Dhoni along with the Indian cricket team management and his co players claiming that the team management doesn’t have any problem with Dhoni’s performance for the team. Ajit Agarkar and VVS Laxman had questioned Dhoni’s place in the T20I side after India’s 40-run defeat to New Zealand in Rajkot. Shastri also slammed at Dhoni’s critics, calling them “jealous people” who are eager to see the end of the World Cup-winning captain, Dhoni’s career. He also went on say to say that it is up to Dhoni to decide his future in international cricket. Shastri rejected the idea that Dhoni was responsible for the defeat of the team and claimed that the criticsonly want the former skipper out after a “few bad days”.
Dhoni will be looked forward in the upcoming home series against Sri Lanka. The 36-year-old can easily achieve lost title in the three ODIs and three T20s against the woefully out-of-form Lankans, unless he falls sick or gets injured, Dhoni will be able to keep a permanent seat in the playing XI.
Shastri said: “Not so long ago I used to do television and people used to ask me questions. You need to answer questions to make a show happen. Dhoni is a superstar. He is one of our greatest cricketers. So he is always going to be a great topic. He is always going to be a topic because he is a legend. When you have a career as glorious as that, you become a topic on television.”
Shastri told that Dhoni, who retired from Test cricket in 2014, has averaged over 65 in one-day internationals over the last one year and helped India win many crucial matches despite the circumstances.
