Our country witnessed the rarity of a documentary receiving huge welcome, in the fashion of a commercial film. Although a lion share of the viewers waited eagerly for a biopic, from the day the project was announced, the documentary “Sachin: A Billion Dreams” had not disheartened them. The film released in 5 languages had collected 27.85 crores in a week’s time. If the docunentary gets such a huge response what would have been the fate of a commercial on Sachin’s life?Obviously the people will throng the theatres. Who shall play the lead in the film? Sachin Tendulkar himself responded to that question.
Tendulkar said, the Bollywood star Aamir Khan shall be the hero if at all the movie happens.
Master Blaster said that the actor’s performance in the film ‘Lagaan’ had prompted him to say so. He added that they know each other for a long time and are close friends. He was responding to the mediapersons’ query during the film’s promotion event.
The film’s director, James Erskin had approached Sachin in 2012 to discuss the project, but eight months passed before the cricket legend agreed to it.In the film, Sachin narrates his own life.The players of different generations appear as well as his family which has backed him through all his ups and downsmAnother major attraction of this documentary is that, it shows the original video footages from the relevant matches Sachin had played from his debut onwards.
