Today, its an unforgettable day for Indian cricket and fans. Exactly a decade passed since the first time six maximums were hit in a T20I match.

On September 19, 2007, veteran Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh hit six sixes in one over at the Kingsmead in Durban (South Africa) against England in the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 match and etched his name in cricket history.

In the 19th over of the Indian innings, Yuvraj Singh hammered Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over.

Virender Sehwag (68) and Gautam Gambhir (58) early laid a solid foundation to India, but the 19th over of Broad eclipsed everything else. It should be recalled that at the end of previous over, there happened a verbal exchange with Andrew Flintoff led to the hammering of Broad who was hit all around the ground by a charged up Yuvraj.

It was the fourth time in the history of cricket, but first in Twenty20 internationals that a batsman hit a six off each of the six balls of an over. Needless to say, it was an exhibition of thrilling batting from the left-hander and that effort still remains in the record book as the fastest 50 in T20 cricket which he achieved in just 12 balls at a staggering strike-rate of 416.7. India finished with 218/4 from their 20 overs and went onto win the game by 18 runs in the Super-8 game.

In an interview Yuvraj said, “I had no plans to hit six sixes. Personally, I was always capable of hitting big sixes, it just came at the right time and after the 50-over exit in the first round.”

“We were a young and fearless team going and expressing ourselves and we had no big names so people had no big expectations from us. But we did well and won the tournament.”, he added.
