Lewis Hamilton wins U.S. Grand Prix and moves a step closer to his fourth F1 title.
Lewis Hamilton wins US GrandPrix to extend his lead on F1 Championship on Sunday. Hamilton was at his careers 72nd pole position in the race, which fastened him to finish first ahead of title rival Sebastian Vettel, who finished second in a race he said he had to win.
After the overnight rainstorm, the race began in dry and warm conditions with an air temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and the track at 33. The crowd to watch the race in any condition included America’s former President Bill Clinton.
Hamilton started a bit slowly as he couldn’t take advantage of the pole position but recovered to regain lead from his rival Sebastian Vettel and finished top to his ninth win this year, his fifth in Texas and the 62nd of his career. Vettel with this race, now trails Hamilton by 66 points in F1 Championship.
If Hamilton wins, or finishes anywhere in the top five, in Mexico City next weekend, he will be champion for the fourth time.
Mercedes clinched their fourth successive constructors’s title and next Sunday’s Mexican Grand Prix should wrap up the other one with no doubt and two races to spare.
With this years title, Hamilton joins the list with Vettel with four titles in the career and he will be ahead of Germany’s Michael Schumacher (7) and Argentina’s Juan Manuel Fangio (5) who have won more.
