The film ‘Sachin: A Billion Dreams’ made a shocking revelation about the team’s unity during the 2007 World Cup. According to the then coach, Greg Chappell’s,”divide and rule” policy, the Indian team was split into two factions. Sachin revealed that the team never practiced on the field as a unit, a major reason for their immediate exit from tournament, losing even to Bangladesh.

Sachin said that the pain and stigma of the elimination totally shattered the players. He also termed it as the worst moments of his career. Eventually Greg Chappell was removed from the post of the coach and Rahul Dravid relinquished the captaincy.

Tendulkar, returning home locked himself inside his room, being unable to face the harsh criticisms. He had almost decided to retire from International cricket; but his inspiration Vivian Richards stopped him. Over the phone, Richards asked the Master Blaster to hold on reminding him of his talent and achievements. Consequently Sachin revived his career and played for six more years, also fulfilling his dream of lifting the World Cup in 2011.
