India will be hosting the 17th FIFA U-17 World Cup in less than a month. Amidst the excitement, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, who is the only player to have won the trophy twice, has said that such a tournament will be an important platform for the youngster players to showcase their talent as it could be the stepping stone towards greatness and may well pave the way for a bright career. He said his career was also started from U-17 championships, later he went on to international clubs.
In a career spanning almost 20 years, the Brazilian won almost every title in football, including the 2002 FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Confederations Cup 2005 and the UEFA Champions League in 2006.
“The most wonderful moment of the tournament was when we became world champions and I got to lift the trophy. It was something Brazil had never done before and experiencing something like that was wonderful,” Ronaldinho said.
Ronaldinho is currently in India for Premier Futsal playing for the team Delhi Dragons.
